Yes. the work took 2 years but Scott only charged me $700 and that included his cost for the wood and a new set of replacement screws. $1100 in the rifle and it's a favorite shooter. If I'd been more

…   It shoots about 6" high at 25yds.  I am shooting 255 gr. lead reloads.  Someone has filed the front sight (21A) to a point and it is about .170" from the bbl. to the top of the sight bead.  I have adjusted the rear (Marbles) sight down to as low as I can, both the V insert and the notches

…“recall”, they don’t turn up all that often. But scarcity is only one factor.  Demand must also be addressed:  Taking into account zero hunting/target interest, and near zero collector interest, understandably the Model 40 market is extremely “soft”….

…that went "cheap" b/c they were inaccurately described.  For example I paid $2750 (hammer price) for my very nice (and fully documented) M70 "Van Orden Sniper" in a Rock Island Auction where the Van Orden provenance was not recognized in the description.  By contrast, the three documented

…it inadequately or misspells an important name that defeats the trolls and search engines. The writer Terry Weiland has secured a gorgeous custom .270 rifle because the online seller spelled its maker "Beisen".

I do not have any antique Winchesters yet, but I have a couple of modern Winchesters made by Miroku, and a post 64 model 94 made in 1970

This is my new manufactured 1892 in 44 Magnum. It was a gift from a friend and just a small portion of God's blessing on me!

…Jason-

Despite surveying pre-64 M70s on a daily basis, I tend to pay little attention to prices.  So what I say below may or may not reflect the current market.  I would suggest that…

…you go to the Rock Island Auction site and search Past Auctions (Premier and Sporting/Collector) for "Winchester 70 257".  I'm reasonably sure you can find at least a half dozen sold examples in the past couple years that you can compare to the condition of your…

…it might give you a "top dollar" figure for your rifle.

That said, it seems to me that clean (98%) all original (no added holes) pre-war M70s in 30 GOV'T'06 have climbed to as much as $3250 in the last couple years.  The 257 ROBERTS is a sought after chambering as it is less common

Highly sought after, by anyone intending to shoot it--as opposed to lock it up in a gun safe.  This

…seen a lot of odd things done to firearms over the years but I’ve never seen a bullpup model 70.

I’m not sure who would buy this but to each his own I guess.

…sell on eBay for $475 (low) to $600+ (with box and rings).   They are a decent scope for the money although I prefer the Lyman Super Targetspot or Unertl for the 52C and later vintage rifles.  My earlier rifles have Feckers.

…for it. The gun is very tight and in great shape for it's age. Nothing has been done to it by my Dad, but can't say what happened to it before 1970. I am not an arms expert, but it does not look like it has been modified or restored.

I have the paperwork and the gun was manufactured on June

I took my "new" Model 1892 (1898 DOM) out for some shooting today. I was testing several different loads targeting 1150-1250 FPS. Out of 60 rounds fired, 14 split like shown in the attached pictures. I have loaded hundreds of 44-40 loads without ever losing
