Just acquired:

1) Serial number 189136
2) Round barrel

3) .22 S,L.OR LR

4) Not drilled/tapped on tang

5) No “W” below serial number

6) Butt plate checkered steel

7) Polished Blued receiver top

Came with original (pretty sure) canvas carry case.

Thanks jban,

The rifle is a 1952 vintage gun and a new one for my survey.  Your description is correct for the SN range.

Thanks Michael for your time and efforts in doing this survey.

It’s been a patient wait until this rifle and I found each other.  My birth year gun and the only one of those I have,  the only 61 I have also.

There were several variations of Model 61 offered in 1952.  A round barrel WRF only, round barrel Short only, round barrel Long Rifle only, and round barrel Long Rifle Shot only.  You are not done shopping yet!!!!! Laugh

Wow,  that would be a nice collection all in itself.  This one will be hard to beat condition wise.  One small ding on the stock and some bluing missing from the magazine tube from the forestock, otherwise it looks like it was just made yesterday, like me. (if only)

How close to your 10,000 goal have you gotten?  Do you have the whole list published anywhere?

I am a bit over half way with 5803 rifles so far.  I have not posted the list anywhere since it is always changing.

Good morning Kevin,

Thanks for adding your rifle into the data base.  It is a 1955 vintage rifle.  SN 228642 was sold out of Julia’s back in October of 2016.

Michael,

228640 sold through Julia’s?  Your reply has serial 228642, so I am unsure.

Thank you,

Kevin

Understood.  I purchased this 61 at a local estate auction and guessed it had spent most of time here.

Thank you, Michael.

It appears they must of run a “batch” in that serial range. Thanks for sharing your data!

Best,

Did you get the photos I PM’d you of the 61 dual sight #42366?

It is marked S., L., and L.R., has the tang sight plug screws.

Thanks,
