I got this one off of GunBroker yesterday. Seller turned out to be "difficult". It took a month get it here but it was worth the wait. Rifle is gorgeous.
1) Serial #58535
2) Round barrel
3) -22 S.L. OR L.R.-
4) Tang drilled and tapped
5) No W below serial #
6) N/A
7) Checkered steel butt plate
8) Smooth receiver top no grooves

If you need another Model 61 for your survey, I have my dad's we grew up with many decades ago.
1. SN 224800 (No "A")
2. Has grooved receiver
3. Round barrel
4. 22 S,L,LR marked
5. Does NOT have upper tang drilled and tapped for two screws
6. Does NOT have "W" below SN
7. Has steel checkered buttplate
Its been in the family for many years and will be passed on to the next generation. From what I see it was produced in 1956 and I believe that's when my dad purchased it. Hope this helps.

That is a new rifle for the survey. It was actually manufactured during 1955 so a 1956 purchase date if very possible.
