Thanks for the stats Gary. The octagon extra light barrels are the coolest looking variation in my opinion, especially matching that muzzle up to a full magazine. How many of those 19 in your survey are full magazines?Don
There (4) of the ELW OB short rifles in the survey with the full mags. They are all 22″ and three 30 cal., w/ only one 38-55. One of the 30 WCF is mine. I don’t have a great picture of it, but I’ll try to get something to post if I have time.
This gun has been on Leroy’s site as long as I can remember, and I’ve looked it several times in Cody and Denver. A great example of what you are talking about, ELW OB FM, but just can’t quite get myself to that price. Almost zero wiggle room so he knows how scarce they are too. I also really like the Daniels site on this one.

Here’s a really rare example I regret not purchasing. I think it’s already in the survey, however.
Here’s one I have that’s nearly identical to that one, although an H checkered deluxe. One of my favorites……

Thanks again Gary. Look forward to seeing a photo. Reading your article again in the Winter 2018 Collector magazine and you mentioned possibly doing an article breaking down the stats of the 1894 extra lightweight shorties. I’m looking forward to that one…hint, hint…

Hers a few pics of the OB ELW FM that I have. Looks like an average vanilla 1894 if you aren’t paying too much attention.

Here’s one for sale at $9500 at the Allentown show today:
432721
My guess is 3x walnut, straight grip, checkered, takedown, 1/2 magazine, round barrel, climbing Lyman sight, 22” barrel, 9 5/8” forearm, bluing 95% plus, case colouring weakening. Rear sight blank. Front sight blade.

That’s a new one ………. and a straight grip checkered is something I don’t see much, very interesting.
What type of butt plate? And I assume standard weight barrel (not an ELW)?

I’m fairly certain the straight gripped stock is original. Hard rubber butt plate. I assume the weight is standard.
Hi Gary,
It’s a nice short rifle, but certainly not a 94/95 hybrid carbine?? Do you have this one in your survey?

Just added it today, and I have no clue why they got it mixed up with the 94/95 hybrids. I will email Mark and let him know if someone else hasn’t already. It’s really not that uncommon of a configuration for an ELW. I had one identical to it on my table at S. Falls last weekend when Mark stopped by to chat but with a 2/3 mag and 3 years older rifle.

Hi Gary,
Here’s another for the survey. I really like this one. Too bad the sights were swapped.
