Nice! It would be relatively easy to trim that Jamison brass down to the correct length for the original 577 Eley cartridge.
Bert
I agree with you Bert!
Until I verify the chamber length, and do more than just fondle the Rifle, I can make sure and know exactly what it is. The .577 on the barrel is correct but no indication of a stamp showing chamber length.

Tony –
That’s a great .577. And it even came with dies!
I enjoyed all the photos – thanks for posting them.
Steve,
I’m glad that you enjoyed it, as I do!

Ben,
I surly did think about you’re comment, before I went ahead and posted this here. I’m glad we have an administrator on top of this in case it gets moved.
Apologies for hijacking an already good thread post!

Posts about Single Shots are always welcome on threads that have run their course, IMHO. Especially eye candy big bores that deserve to be properly displayed!
Back to the OP (sort of) has anyone moved forward on making gun racks similar to the ones Fred Vandersnick made? Some collectors are more interested in the rack than the guns I have in it! I wish I had the talent and equipment to make them, I know several folks here do.

You’re kind words are always appreciated, as I heard you did a bang up, great job on the Texas show you guys just had!
I’ve actually took a hard look at those racks and being retired am thinking about maybe making one or so. It’s crazy how busy and active we get in retirement, but as a choice. I just gave a close Carpenter friend, some select Cherry and Black Walnut from our past property timbering we had done where we always find time to pick out some select timber for our own lumber needs as part of the deal/package. One nice piece of Cherry was over 50 years old, and 15 inches wide! Still pristine as we store them in a controlled climate!
We’ll see as it gives me something to chew on while I’m mowing and picking up leaves in the tag behind Cyclone Rake Vacuum!

Jeff… Bert’s picking on me again!
Maybe so, but I can’t refute his logic.

Thanks, Tony. We had a great show and I got to visit with some awesome collectors from all over the country. It’s truly a pleasure to work with the talented and hardworking TGCA team. I just heard we have already sold 50% of the tables for our Spring show.

OfflineTony, we think alike. Once the base is drawn off 1:1, a bandsaw could make short work of the profile and the “hooks” are pretty simple. The joinery is child’s play unless a purist wanted to make it harder than necessary. The real trick is getting good stock, which problem you’ve already solved.
