Bob do you or anyone know what Remington stated was the factory fps for this Remington marked high velocity 44-40 you use in your 73’s ?

I don’t know what speed the ammo was advertised at but the box says safe for rifle and handgun and what I measured.

Well, I just looked at a yellow and green Remington .45-70 High Velocity box of cartridges.  Either my memory isn’t what it used to be, or different boxes have said different things.  Anyway, this box says, “For use in all rifles.”

Nice work Bob. I searched all week & couldn’t find a thing on these Remington cartridges.

I searched the part number on the box. I should post where i found it. It looks like a good resource.

Bob, that is a really good site.  Here is the chart for Winchester.

https://guide.sportsmansguide.com/ballistic-chart/wballistics_111.html

Notice that the 44 WCF is the same velocity as listed for the Remington.

Rick, the factory velocity for the black powder loads was 1310 FPS.  As TR said modern powder has a different pressure curve so FPS is only one indicator.
