Based on the information I have, your Model 94 was manufactured very early in the year 1967. As long as it is in sound mechanical condition, there is no reason why you cannot take it out for a shooting session.

I also have a 1894 Rifle, 24″ Octagon, 32 Special, Crescent butt Serial number 266055 can you give me a born on date for both?

I just acquired a model 1894 in .38-55 with a serial number of 170247 which the previous owner states it’s from 1903. Is this a correct date or is it an earlier model?

Is the upper tang drilled & tapped for a tang sight?  Does it have a Canadian Broad Arrow marking on the left front side of the receiver frame?

I left out a 5 in the serial number… so my win 30-30 94AE is serial 6055541.  

  

That puts it in the early 1990s.  Does it have a cross-bolt safety?

Thank you Bert.  And yes it does have a cross-bolt safety. Also the big loop on the lever.

  

The Cross-bolt safety was introduced in the latter part of the year 1992.

This is great information.  I told my dad you were able to date my rifle, and asked if you could tell the date on his Winchester Model 1886 S/N 107541.  It’s a 40-65 Caliber.

January 1896.  The Cody Firearms Museum (CFM) records office has the original Winchester factory records for it, and can for a modest fee provide you with a factory letter for it.
