Henry,
Two things come to mind;
1. The “Take Down” notation in the ledger record was written in red ink
2. It is totally spurious entry.
I feel very confident that it had nothing to do with who it was shipped to, or who in the warehouse shipped it.
I would give Jessica or Angela a call to see if they can explain what it is .

Does either of the front sights have a “Red” bead on them?
Sincerely,
Maverick

Both front sites have the white”ivory” bead. I did ask Jessie a while back and She didn’t know. The .33 cal. bbl. obviously was not original to the gun, but it sure does make a nice companion. and matches up perfect to the gun, finish etc.

I’d like to see an image of the ledger page on that one.

I believe that I’ve seen the “Red” notation before on a Model 1895 record, .30-03 Sporting rifle if I remember correctly. It could have been mfd. close to the same time period as Henry’s rifle.
This was over 10 years ago. At the time, I talked about it with one of our late members and we were both wondering what it meant. He wondered if it had something to do with the wood, but I don’t know if that would be the case. I believe that particular rifle was on gunbroker or a similar site for a while back then.
I’ll try to look for any info.
