Thanks so much for the info.  It is indeed a new rifle for the data.  Just over 9,530 rifles so far.  DOM is 1947 and the configuration is correct.

I am glad this is a new entry.  If any more 61s come up at auction in the vicinity, I will attempt to obtain information.

Thak you for working on the surveys.

Thanks Kevin.  It is a new one that I would not have seen!  And there was a Model 1892 in the auction also that went into that survey I am doing.

Glad this is a new one and that you found a model 92 as well.  I will keep looking at the local auction houses and see if more show up in the future.

Thank you for all the work on the surveys.

Good morning,

Are you certain of that 5 digit SN?   The round barrel Shot Only version of the 61 was not around in 1936 which corresponds to 16832.

Michael,

Sorry about that, the gun isn’t in the greatest of condition.  I did a pencil rubbing of both serials, what I saw as a 1 is actually a 4.

Correct serial number is 46832

Hello Andy,

That makes more sense!  What you have is a Routledge bore version of the Model 61.  The last 13.5 inches of the bore are counter-bored to that dimension.  The receiver top should be matted, no rear sight on the barrel, and a bead front sight.  It may be difficult to see but is there a “W” between the serial numbers and the trigger guard?  I have included a small portion of my survey sheet to show your rifle(light yellow shading) and how it fits into the other rifles that I have found.
