I have in my possession a copy of Winchester Lever Legacy by Clyde Williamson. While I don’t care for the commentary, the Cartridge drawings are of interest to me. Where did ol’ Snooky get the diagrams and are they available anywhere?
Does anyone know who holds the copyright to the Winchester cartridge/chamber drawings? Does Winchester still hold their ownership? If not who?
Not to be confused with SAAMI cartridge drawings. I know that the SAAMI drawings are on their website I will have to contact them for permission to use them, I am asking about the WINCHESTER drawings that are published in Williamsons book which are of an interesting historical reference.
Thanks

John,
I’m certain I don’t have Snooky’s book. Can you PM me and send a picture of the drawings in question?
Sincerely,
Maverick

SAAMI did not exist until much later. The only SAAMI diagrams for the old cartridges are ones that were made later or are still manufactured.
The diagrams in Williamson’s book are mostly copies of RCBS, (Omark), diagrams or Winchester’s. There are well over 50 diagrams. I don’t believe you need anyone’s permission to use them for non commercial use.
You can also get diagrams in the Handloaders Guide to Cartridge Conversions by Donnelly. 600+ pages.
