Looks like the high profits have them expanding. We all know that every day, collectors, many not knowledgeable enough to be bidding, are tucking away guns that are not right. As guys on this Forum say all the time, “Buyer Beware”.

Mike – look at it this way, you don’t have far to travel for an auction. A couple of interesting statements from the article – (1) interest is at an all time high and (2) its as hot as it has ever been. Yep, if you watch the Rock Island auctions the guns, including Winchesters are going for a lot of money – even those guns that have problems. How that will impact collecting I am not sure but if it continues it will prohibit the average guy from owning the guns. Many times we have talked about how Tommy Rholes used to say auctions would ruin gun collecting. The fees charged by Rock Island are crazy but if people continue to pay them the gun auctions will continue and collectors, especially new collectors, will continue to buy some guns that have been messed with.

They’ve most certainly ruined gun shows!  Most of the big collections that show dealers used to buy now go directly to auctions.

Not surprised they’re moving to Texas, along with everyone else. The migration to Texas is out of control and not just along the border. I guess you can now go watch the PGA masters and bid at your favorite auction house as well.

RIA is not moving to Texas, they are opening an additional auction house in Texas. At least that’s what was said a couple of months ago. T/R

the story says they are “expanding” to take advantage of the “Texas avid gun culture”.

well given the times, this is how the next generation of collectors will be buying. They will of course make their mistakes like we all did starting out and hopefully they learn and then teach the next generation like we are trying to do now.
