I hope that this is the correct forum for this, as the others did not seem quite appropriate. I am a journalist writing a series of pieces about the Hawaiian counterrevolution of 1895 and am seeking information and access to any and all Winchester 1873 models whose known origin is Hawaii and especially those which are inscribed ‘C.G.H’.
Any and all info – but especially serial numbers and the stories of how you came to own them – is greatly appreciated! And if there is by chance a collector in Honolulu who’d be willing to allow me to examine and photograph their models, I would be extremely grateful.
Again, I apologize if this is not quite the forum – I know how annoying a newbie like me can be, and I appreciate any help that you all may offer.

In addition to the Model 1873, the Hawaiian Guard also had Winchester Model 1876 Lever-action repeaters and Winchester Single Shot Muskets in their inventory.

Hey Bert!
Thanks for getting back to me, yeah I’ve been looking through their rosters and rifle distribution documents. I’m searching for the Winchester 1873’s because those were the ones recorded to have been used by both rebels and CGH at the time of the counterrevolution. Trying to track those rifles to the present day as best I can

I have three 73’s that are noted to the CGH in my research. Serial 372665, 395918 and 431661 that are 44 caliber carbines and the last one has a set trigger. I remember seeing the ledgers on the CGH guns a while back. I checked 431661 and its on the page I’ve attached. The issue with me using the list is I would have to letter all the guns marked as 44 caliber because I don’t want to use them in my survey if I assume they all are carbines. The only other Winchester they could be are 92’s but in that serial range they were made in 1907 or later after the ledger was written. Then there are some early serial numbers that would be first model 73’s or could be 92’s and could of been used .

Have you ever come across or heard of any Model 1892s that are C.G.H. marked?
I haven’t. But that doesn’t mean anything.

I’m not the right guy to ask about 92’s but I haven’t seen one. I checked my Springfield research and the only 92’s in there are from the US Atlanta Prison and there was 94’s used for the Hawaii board of Ag & Forestry.
