after being warned more than once about the fake pigeon grade, how does one reference the correct pigeon stamp- and are all of the stamps the same? I have a friend with a genuine pigeon grade, so I have that. But am wondering if the same stamped was used across the board or not. I had a gentleman tell me that it was the way the applied it as opposed to how people are faking them. I have looked through all of my books but no pictures. I always like to figure it out myself but I am also not afraid to ask for help.the gun in question is from 1956 if that helps at all
Bill,
It is my understanding that the Pigeon was engraved versus stamped. Pauline Muerrle was one of the last engravers in Winchester’s Custom Shop, and can provide a detailed answer if you contact her (she is a WACA member).

Pauline’s new book deals with this subject pretty specifically. I recommend buying a copy.
