I can’t grasp the full context here. It looks like a frontiersman out in a very remote wild setting and he has laid out his… most recent purchases? Or, is he a store representative laying out his wares (presumably for other frontiersman) to view? The guns, ammunition, knives, fishing rod would match what I am thinking, but then there’s the roller skates and the ice skates……?
I think the text speaks for itself,”introducing the new line of Winchester products”, being at about the time when They were introducing Ice skates, fishing gear, tools etc.

Key date being 1921. Winchester and the Simmons Hardware Company had a merger and developed a business model for introducing “The Winchester Store” across the country. It was a failure. By 1929 they parted their separate ways. A prime example of the Roaring 20s at full swing. It among other things caused Winchester’s bankruptcy and by 1931 Western bought them.
There are some collectors of the Winchester hardware items. Just not my cup of tea and probably not for most of the collecting community. All I see when I look at these items was the demise of Winchester. They are neat and collectible items, but much rather tie up money in the firearms and related items.
Sincerely,
Maverick

I understand Winchester wanted to show off their new wares, it’s just that the pairing of a frontiersman with ice skates and roller skates struck me as peculiar.
