While working in the shop this morning, I happened onto an old movie, “Border Incident” from 1949. One of the bad guy’s was played by lone time and excellent character actor Arthur Hunnicutt. You’d know him as “Bull” in Rio Bravo. I found it interesting that he was using an 1886 Winchester SRC in this movie. I can only think of two other movies where an ’86 carbine was used. One was “North West Mounted Police” with Gary Cooper and the other was “Montie Walsh” with Tom Selleck. Once in awhile you’ll see an ’86 rifle in a movie, but seldom a carbine.
Wasn’t there another movie that had Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson in it that had either a 86 or 76 full stock carbine? If I recall correctly Lee Marvin has Charles Bronson pinned down in a log cabin. I don’t remember much else about the movie or how it ended. I seem to think it was called “Death Hunt”.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Was that the one where Bronson was being hunted and dug in below the cabin and shot through the chinking of the logs? Haven’t seen that one in a long time.

I’m not sure where I got the 45-70 from. Thought I read it somewhere. Could be wrong. Here’s a picture. Almost looks like verdigris on the rounds.
Seems to me, I remember watching a movie quite some time ago, where a Model 1886 .50-110 was in use.Cannot remember much about the movie, but it had to do with an unground creature attacking the people and the people taking refuge on the tops of buildings and shooting at the creature as it moved close to the top of the soil.
