Selling Antique full box (10 rounds) Winchester .38-90 Express ammo for the Winchester Single Shot Rifle Model 1885.  Box is in very nice condition with all labels intact–see photos.  All 10 rounds are native to the box and are in excellent condition.  Box is wrapped in plastic, but no tape is in contact with the box.  Asking $450 shipped to lower 48 only.  Please send me a PM if interested.

Thanks,

Don

Don, have you ever seen the tip of the bullets?  Wondering about the copper tube.  Small tube or larger one with a W?

Hi Chuck,

I don’t recall the appearance of the bullet tips.  I’ll have to break open the box later and report back.

If the bullets are other than solid, as noted on the side label of the box, I will be shocked!

Sincerely,

Maverick

Says right on the box “Solid”.  I have the same box and these do not have the express bullet.

Both of the boxes I have say “Solid” and they do not have the copper tube (pellet) in the nose of the bullet.

Opened the box and netted the same result–no express/no copper tube bullet either.

Sorry,  I did not catch the solid call out on the box.  I’m still looking for examples of the 3 Express cartridges to determine if the bullets have the X on the tube.  The 45 does for sure.  But, now with seeing the solid head call out on an Express box I wonder if they may have come both ways?  I want to see a 38 and 40 express that has a X bullet. I don’t think I have before?  Like the 40-82 with the small tube.

Chuck,

I have full boxes and partial boxes of all three of the Single Shot Express cartridges, and I have WRACo and UMC cartridges for all three.  None of the 38 Express cartridges have the copper tube/pellet.  The 40 Express cartridges have what appears to be a copper BB or pellet with no “X”, and the 45 Express WRACo cartridges have the copper tube with the “X”.

No problem at all Chuck.  It’s been an interesting side-discussion.
