Any one ever hear of these Winchester shotguns?

If a SS, why the mag tube? A 30″ pattern at 50 ft far excels that of a .22 shot fired from a rifled brl., which would produce the same size pattern at about 20 ft.
Rather amazing a Wiki entry has been created for such a limited production item! Maybe Cody, since they have one of the ice ball machines.
Here is the actual RIA auction listing.
RIA’s description seems more clearly to state what they were used for.
I wouldn’t think any serious Winchester collector would even consider these a “Winchester” item. About like the Winchester Liberator four barreled shotgun.
A somewhat interesting experiment, but not a true Winchester in the eyes of a purist collector.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Interesting sporting idea. All in the pursuit of fun it would seem. So, the ice balls are fired at the shooting team… meaning if the team on the receiving end didn’t hit and shatter the ball – the ball would hit the team? A four inch diameter fired at 30 mph sounds formidable. I suppose ice balls would be inexpensive to manufacture…. Actually, I’d like one of those machines. Use it as an, “ice pigeon” thrower. No more worries about the biodegradability of the, “pigeons.”

Biodegradable in what, a century or two? How do the makers get away with this flagrant lie? I wish our club could obtain one of those ice-ball machines. The balls were hollow, otherwise they wouldn’t break.

As a substitute for clay pigeons I like the idea of ice balls from both an expense as well as biodegradable perspective
