If anyone is keeping track, I don’t know if this has been added:

Model 1894, sn 124093 25-35, Cresent butt, 16 inch 1/2 round 1/2 octogon, button mag. Straight grip.

Thanks

Mike

Mike

I am logging 1894 short rifles. Any chance you have the fore-end measurement? 7 3/8″ I presume?

Sounds like an interesting piece. Does it letter properly? Some pictures would be great.

Gary:

Sorry it must have been late when I wrote that. It’s not 16 inch it’s 20 inches from breach to muzzle. So not as exciting. Although I’ve inky ever seen I’ve other. Interesting combination of features. It is lettered but I haven’t seen the letter since 2 houses ago. I gotta dig that up. Let’s see if I can get some pictures.

Mike,

The letter info and a fore arm measurement would be great if you can get it. Likely 8 3/8″ but I have a couple that letter with short barrels and still have the long wood. You can email me the pics directly if you want, I’d love to see it.

Gary: I’ll send you an email. Goes to Amazon photos so it isn’t posting friendly. Maybe I’ll figure that out.

Great looking little rifle, Mike. Looks like the 9 3/8″ wood to me. If you get a chance, please measure for me. Also, if you can confirm that the letter states 20″ barrel, that would be very helpful. Maybe even take a pic of the letter and post with your other pics if you like. I’m always interested in seeing what they say.

Thank you.

Yes the barrel is 20 inches wood is 9 3/8 exposed. Hopefully I’ll find that letter and lay it out. From the production and option numbers this is an uncommon variation.  Certainly well used.
