Without the rifle in hand, it looks to good to be true (unrestored) to me. Also, from what I’ve seen, the majority of “presentation rifles” were deluxe rifles, not plain Jane standard rifles, as this one is. Thoughts?

Poor wood fit, rounded corners and lack of age to the finish.

If I was selling it and had good title, I’d track down the decedents and see if they were interested in bringing the rifle home, for a price.
I don’t know about yall, but I find that inscription plate somewhat questionable.
