I have acquired a 94 Ranger 30-30, serial number 6304042. I am guessing it was manufactured around 1994-1995. Would anyone know or how to find out the year of manufacture?
Does your Ranger have a Tang safety? If it does not (and I suspect that it does not), it was manufactured before 2002. Based on the information I have, your Model 94 Ranger was most likely manufactured in the year 1999.

Bert, serial number 6382197. Trails end model 94. I’ve tried looking in the internet and can’t seem to find a good source for new model serial number lookups. What year would this gun be?
There are no “good” sources of DOM information for the USRACo manufactured Model 94s. That stated, the estimated date (year) of manufacture for your Model 94 is 2000.

Offline654573x is a 2004 production.
Adding my rifle to this list to help document late production Model 94AE tang safety serial number dates.
I emailed
customersupport @winchesterguns .com with my serial number, and they quickly replied back with the info.
I purchased it new from Walmart on 06/05/05 for $264.86 with a box of Winchester Super-X 150gr PP 30-30 ammo for $9.97.

OfflineHey Bert, first off just want to say congrats on 10 years of 94 AE serial number questions, now here is mine. I have a 94 AE serial number #5234114, the Winchester registry shows that it should have been made 1984 but I have heard of some 94 AE receivers being produced in 1983. My questions are was it made either 1984 or 1983 if you know, also I want to ask what is the lowest 94 AE serial number you have seen or know of, it would be interesting to know how early in production mine was produced, thanks.

The Angle Eject (AE) variant of the Model 94 was introduced in the year 1983, and the confusion exists because it was first cataloged in the January 1984 catalog. The has led many people (and past authors) to the incorrectly assume by that the year 1984 is when the USRACo began production of the AE variant.
That stated, I believe that your Model 94 AE was actually manufactured very early in the year 1984, but there is no way to prove that. I do not attempt to track or survey any of the Post-1963 production Model 94s. Therefore, I do not know what the earliest serial number would have been for the AEs.

Thanks so much, I don’t want to ask to many questions but I do have one more. The barrel on my 94 AE is lacking the typical warning marks they started requiring in the late 70’s as well as lacking the WP stamping on the receiver, am I correct in assuming it is an example of a transition gun from when US repeating arms company took over the production plant from Winchester? Thanks again for your time.

I do not know what you are referring to by “warning marks”. To the best of my knowledge, there were no required “warning” markings in the late 1970s or shortly thereafter.
No, your Model 94AE is not a “transition” gun. The USRACo purchased the original Winchester factory from the Olin Corporation in December of 1980, and then began production in May of 1981.

Hello Bert,
New to the group but not new to Winchesters, thanks for allowing me to join
I just acquired a model 94AE 20″, 30-30 with serial 65617xx, with tang safety
Was wondering if you could tell me the date of mfg.
Thank you.
Most likely mid-year 2005. The USRACo introduced the Tang Safety in the year 2002 and then permanently shut down production and closed the factory in March of 2006. At that time, serial numbers were very near 6590000.
