I recently procured a carbine barrel in caliber 25-35 that has some markings on the bottom rear near the caliber stamp. The stamp is a VP within a circle which I have seen before. My question is the next stamping :
M.N.S. after which a very small stamp that looks like and eagle’s head. Can not find the reference to a M.N.S. in any of the books or to the eagle’s head.
It does not look like the Springfield eagle inspector’s mark. It was also a very light strike compared to the heavy strikes for the other stampings. Do you guys have any ideas? 🙁

Midvale Nickel Steel………..not sure about the eagles head. I’ll let the others here elaborate.
