I saw the recent post about the Gunbroker seller "Selling Dad’s Old Guns" and found another case where it appears he’s straying from the truth.
In the description of this gun:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=436180172
He states it is from a prestigious collection……yet, the same gun appears on Gunbroker from another seller a couple months earlier.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=425404867
That’s a fine looking gun but he is evidently not selling a prestigious collection but just buying and selling guns.
I just could not resist sending him the following message;
"[color=blue:e78f4db2cc]Really??? Honestly is apparently not one of your strong points or traits. Fortunately, intelligence is also not one of your strong points.
Would you care to explain this – http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=425404867%5B/color:e78f4db2cc%5D"

Maybe his Dad lived in Arizona and it was easier on the family between the squabbling siblings and all, for him to buy the gun from his Dad at Auction!
I guess his Dad forgot to throw in the original Factory shipping Box as well.
Keep em coming, I’m sure he’s not the only dishonest seller out there.
Sincerely,
Maverick

I guess the bottom line is, if you want to buy the item he is selling and are willing to pay his price, buy it. If the gun is accurately pictured and described I am satisfied. I ignore "verbal provenance".
To ignore someone who habitually lies is the same as condoning his behavior. I (and I suspect several others here) refuse to accept that type of moral ineptitude.

I have been told things that are less than the truth often. Sometimes Paul Bunyan size fabrications, sometimes very minor stretches of the truth. I have bought Winchesters from a guy who has a wild story about every gun he sells. I have bought a lot of guns from him, ignore the stories, and do not let the hyperbole taint the gun. I would like to meet this seller, and see what kind of a person he is face to face. If the gun is a fair price for what it is and what you want, accurately described shipped quickly and packed well, you got what you paid for. Just saying the gun came from a prestigious collection and nothing more really does not effect my valuation of the gun. And it really is not a lie. He may be referring to his prestigious collection, no matter how long he owned the gun. The use of his wording in this auction really seems harmless to me. If he falsely starts attributing the ownership of the gun to some famous person, that would change things.

I suppose its harmless and a "fair price" to the tune of being marked double over what you pay for something only 6 months ago. I mean really did I miss something happening in the market? Are all my Winchester now worth double of what they were six months ago? Hell a year from I guess they be tripled in value. Man I’m glad I didn’t off load my collection 2 years ago, these prices are better than the gold market!
