Well steve004 I have been trying to fix this for 4 days without a fix. I don’t know where to go from here. guess its just lost money for a membership.
Tom,
When exactly (the specific date) did you pay for your membership? Have you received a membership ID number yet? Sometimes it takes several days for Trish Smith to get everything processed and your membership profile established. If you have the information I asked for, I can expedite getting your access level on the forums upgraded from Guest to Member.

Tom what you have is the Winchester 4th Model Bullet Mold that is marked 40-265. Your mold is a later production 4th Model Mold made towards the year 1888. Sometime between 1883-1888, Winchester added the mold block alignment pin feature, and I have yet to narrow down when. Your mold is for the 40-50 Sharps Straight or Sharps Bottle Neck cartridge and cast a 265 grain paper patched style bullet. It was not made for the 40-70 Sharps and/or 40-70WCF.
Here are pictures of my 5th Model Mold in 40-70WCF, along with my 1894 Reloading Tool in 40-70WCF. The mold cast a 330 grain grooved bullet.
On a side note, of the 180+ various cherried bullet mold calibers Winchester sold, only about 52 are truly of Winchester design. The rest are of their competitors.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Well Maverick thanks for the help with not only my mold but the pictures as well. Cant say I’m not disappointed it is not for a 40-70, good news is my loading tool is marked exactly like yours and is as good of condition. Bad news is like most 1894 tools it is missing the decapper pin. Thank you.

To Bert HI have not received a member I.D. number yet nor do I know where to look.
To answer question 2, I payed via pay pal on 15 Feb per Trish Smith.
Have you received a membership package from Trish yet? The member ID number will be on your membership card in the package. Until Trish enters your profile information in the system, I cannot change your profile. Once it is entered, I can change your WACA website permission levels.

I own a Winchester WCF 40-70 with the optional, factory installed, 3rd sight. I also have 2 original WCF 40-70 cartridges. I reload WCF 40-82 brass turned down in length for my 40-70. I really enjoy shooting it. That steel butt plate is really comfortable after 70 rounds fired.

I happen to have 27 rounds of 40-70 wcf for sale if anyone is interested. Email me at [email protected]
