Hello

I am turning to you all as experts in the field as I know nothing! We were given this beautiful oak cabinet over the weekend. The lady who gave it to us said that her in-laws used it in their store and had candy in it. We took a picture of it and a search returned Winchester display case. However, none of the pictures we have found match exactly what we have, so we are confused. Is this piece a Winchester display case or do we have a different, beautiful addition to our home?

Karen,

That is the Winchester Pyramid case. Very expensive if its real. Here is a link to a discussion about one that sold on Rock Island in December. I see you do not have the shelf (that held the gun barrels) that has the Winchester logo on it. Is there any other labels or markings on it? There is a guy (Shawn) that is making them now but they still bring good money but not like the auction one. They were used to display Winchester rifles.

I don’t think that it is a Winchester Pyramid Case. Or at the least, if it is one, it has been modified. If it is a Winchester Case, it is missing the center gun rack wood portion. The hardware used on the hinges and door knob look wrong to me. Also I can see metal shelf brackets on the inside posts. I suspect for holding glass shelves.

Just my opinion. Not an expert on these by any means.

Sincerely,

Maverick

I thought maybe this was just from my Google searches. However, every other case I’ve seen have legs, where I cannot see how legs were ever attached on this case. Yes, it’s been modifies. Someone added brackets to hold shelves. I will try to take a few better pictures and see if I can find any markings on it. Whatever it is, it’s unique to me and a conversation piece! I will post more updates if I can find any additional marks/labels.

Thank you so much!

I have taken more photos of the case we have acquired. I cannot find any markings. It appears that maybe there were legs at one time and one handle is missing opposite of the visible handle. Any more thoughts would be appreciated.

Even if its not the Winchester Pyramid Case its going to have value to a Winchester collector if the inside is high enough to stand guns up.

The base could have been changed to make use of what otherwise would be wasted space, but the door latch is quite different.  Still, if not exactly the same, it sure looks like it was made by the same company making them for Winchester.  Anybody with a scroll-saw could easily fabricate gun racks similar to those in the Winchester case.
