Recently got caught up in an auction on Wards site. It was for a quite rare M06 with the Stainless Steel bbl. It’s a 1927 PR’d rifle, with a “27” dated bbl. I just got Schwings Volume #1 and it shows the Stainless mark partially under the rear sight. Mine is marked nowhere near there. Under the bbl. near the date is ST, which I presume is for Stainless. The Japan coating on the bbl. is in excellent cond. so I cannot see what’s under it.
Anyone else have one of these rifles? It is # 765695, PR date, 12-03-1927. A good 95%++ condition, and by the book, 100% correct. Thanks, Big Larry

Larry, are you trying to corner the market on ’06s?
Be pretty tough to find one nicer.
Mike
New found collectible. Nice ones are very hard to find. This Stainless Steel M06 is way nicer than the ones in Schwings book. I am just looking for someone else that collects these and has knowledge of them. It’s a pretty scarce rifle and never went over on the public. They wound up selling these for the regular price. I now have 5 nice ones and will buy more if they turn up in nice condition. I have to fit these rifles in with my purchasing of Smith and Wessons.
Just bought two of those. DUH !!! Big Larry

James McBroom would have been the man to advise you, a Model 90 expert always generous with his knowledge, but like 9 out of 10 of the friends I had 20 yrs ago, gone…but not forgotten.

I’ve lost a few too Clarence. I’m 80 and I feel like 90. Some of my old buddies really knew their stuff. All lost to time. Now we have the likes of JWA, and SEEWIN, who really know their stuff. You do pretty good for a rookie Clarence. Big Larry
