About a week ago you replied to my post about needing info for a 1942 model 62A.
You were going to send a scan of a 1942 catalog you have but I did not get the information.
Here is my email [email protected] if you do not have it.
Thanks, Kenneth
Believe he may be out of country at present, but here is his website: https://www.rimfirepublications.com/

Hi Kenneth,
Sorry for the delay. Clarence is correct, I have been out of the country and off the grid, I won’t be back to my catalogs until the 2nd week of August and will do it then if you can wait.
Again, sorry for the delay.

My friend, I need a nice trigger guard for my new to me, M57. The current one is a little short on condition. Do you have a nice one? Thanks, Big Larry
Hi Larry,
I don’t think so, sorry. The early trigger guards had the flaking blue issue, very few nice ones are left. I have a nice one for a 75 but the bluing method was changed by then even though it is the same TG

It’s flaked pretty bad. Detracts from the otherwise, nice rifle. I should just leave it alone. I have another M57 in better condition, but this one was less than 1/2 of what I paid for my other one. Besides the trigger guard, it had a 3 row magazine. This always happens. My other M57 has the two row mag. with the 22 LONG R follower. Big Larry
Hi Larry,
The magazine is an easy fix, the marked follower mags show up on eBay every few weeks. The original carbonum blued trigger guards, not so much. In fact, if I see an early trigger guard with perfect bluing I am usually VERY suspicious that it has been re-blued. 99.9% of them have flaked at least a little over the years since that is exactly where the hand sits for a balanced carry.

I moved a few of my magazines around and was able to find a nice one with the 22LONGR marking. The housing on my other M57 is like new. I used the chart you sent me to ascertain all my mags were in the correct rifles. The hardest one was the 22 short with the patent dates on the follower. It resides in my #1903 M56. One of my favorites. Thanks, Big Larry
The hardest magazine to find is the 10 round .22 short with the patent date follower. Since it was only an option, not many were made.

I really do not like 10 rd mags. I have a couple period types, but never use them. I think they detract from the slim good looks of the rifles. Not to say I would turn down a follower marked 10 rounder for my collection.
Tom came over yesterday and took the M47 and M57 for a deep clean and Ren Waxing. He likes doing that. I have bought him 2 cans of the wax as I have a lot of guns as you know.
I doubt I will ever catch you, but I am approaching 200, with only a very few duplicates.
BTW, have you ever jumped from a plane? Your friend, Big Larry

Hi Larry,
I agree about the 10 round mags, I like the clean look of the 5 round also. I have a collection of 10 rounders for reference but don’t use them.
If you are only at 200 you have a long way to go, time to start collecting the .22 sub-variants 😉
Yes, I have jumped but never jumped from a plane over the U.S., only abroad. Below is a much younger JWA with a ‘chute.

My Stepson, Daughter in Law, and my Granddaughter, all jumped at the Otay, San Diego airport. My Stepson flew the jumpers out and also pulled gliders.
If you remember, he was Agent in Charge of Air Ops, in El Centro Border Patrol and flew many airplanes.
Me, I am chicken. Cluck, cluck. Maybe someday you will meet him. Big Larry

A good friend is a parachute instructor. When he hears the line about “jumping from a perfectly good airplane” he’ll tell you his pilot wears a parachute.

Yes, I am a bit over the posted weight limit also. The original crew weight limit was determined with a full combat load including six .50 cal machine guns and 1880 rounds of ammo (about 850 lbs total) so there is quite a bit of “crew weight” wiggle room in a stripped-down unarmed version. 😉
The original 8 ply WWII tires made by General Tire (with the cross-hatched pattern) are very pricey although not generally airworthy, they are typically used for static displays only. Goodyear (and possibly others) make a very reasonably priced 27″ 10 ply substitute (about $550 each). I think Desser is where the current tires from that aircraft came from. The photo was taken at the WWII Temora airfield in NSW Australia where the grass runways are much easier on tires……
