When did Winchester open their New York and San Francisco stores?  I have an original September 1882 catalog that shows the address for the New York store on the cover.

I also have an original October 1905 catalog No. 72 that has these two stores shown on the front cover page.

It appears the Armory Publications reprints do not have the cover page.  They start at the title page so no store information is shown.

In the 12 volume set the Jan 1902 has a New York address.  You have to remember that this set only contains the ones that were found at the time of printing.

I’d have to research it some more, but I believe the New York Store location was in use by the company very early on. Possibly even as early as the Model 66 being produced. I think I recall seeing documentation mentioning the model 1879 double barrel shotgun being sold through the New York Store. They also moved locations of the New York Store at least once. The San Francisco store may not have been much later on either, 1880s maybe. I think I saw documentation where one of the upper Winchester Brass would go by and check on the Widow Sarah Winchester in San Jose when he would visit the San Francisco location.

Sincerely,

Maverick
