I forget where Maverick mentioned the Win 1874 Board. On page 255 of Volume II of Lou’s rimfire book he lists the cartridges.
There are 25 rimfire and the 44-40 center fire.
On page 257 he list all the Winchester rimfire cartridges including blanks and shot with the period they were manufactured. Of the 56 listed only 3 are still being made by Winchester.
This is the only picture I could find of the, 19 inch, 1874 Winchester Cartridge Board, Chuck mentioned, as Lou Behling, talked about in his book. I did the best I could with this picture. It would be great if a member had one he could post better, close up pictures of.
I wish that I could reprint the pages number, 154, and 155, as Chuck mentioned, as the information here is pretty amazing to me, and I feel to many other collectors. I wouldn’t re print it here, without Lou’s permission, anyways, as not only being respectful, to Lou, but I don’t feel it would be right, and then there’s the legal part of doing something like that. Lou gives credit to where he found his information, and what resources he used, to provide us readers, with some very important facts.
The Winchester history, is mentioned in details, and the beginning of cartridge production, involving Winchester’s early struggles, and many of the well known characters, are mentioned as we know them, from our past readings.

I spoke to Lou yesterday. Of the 500 copies printed, to date they have sold about 220 of the 500, which were all pre-order pre-publication sales. Now they are catching up and getting into sending out the regular sales. He said with the sales they have so far they recouped their printing costs. The foreign sales are a problem dealing with some red tape on exporting items.
All that said, if you want a copy you better get it ordered now.
Sincerely,
Maverick

Well Lou is in 80s and was probably going off memory, so there is that. I figured selling close to half of the 500 copies in only four months is pretty good sales. But I am no publishing / book sales expert.

I agree. Every time I pick up my copy I find something new and interesting. Yesterday I read the Stetson patent for the first time. Anyone still crimping their bullets? It all started with this Patent. No more healed bullets.
