Is it just me or does it seem like very few new posts compared to old format??

No doubt about the doldrums; whether its cause relates to format, that’s debatable.  Tell you for sure, any post beyond the superficial invites apathy.

Over on RFC, if sycophant comments like “nice rifle” were excluded, activity would be equally moribund.

How do you get into a thread, and gave it open to the latest posts, like it used to?  They all open with Post #1, which means I have no idea where the latest post(s) are and am disinclined to want to post.

I like the old format much better!  Perhaps others do as well and that’s why there’s a lack of new posts and threads.

So, if a thread has 35 posts and you read to the 35th post, how do you get it to open to a new post (36) the next time?  It’s maddening, actually.

I merely tap the “end” key on my antiquated laptop; maybe newer ones lack that function.  On the either hand, dopes that respond to the last comment without having read all that led up to it, are a major bore.

When I click on a link from a email to a post it takes me to the that post. it works just like the old forum. If I go to the list of forums and pick a thread I can go to the last post by clicking “last Post”. As far as I can see everything works like the old one just it has a different look. As long as your signed in when you visit it will remember which posts you looked at. Now if you clear your cookies between visits that might cause a issue but never tried it.

The new format works ok on my laptop but it is difficult to navigate and post from my cell phone.

Among the cell-phone difficulties is the fonts are too small, the format on the phone is hard to follow and the screens do not scale properly so I have to scroll up/down to navigate a page and post.  Trying to insert photos into a post from my phone is so difficult I just don’t.  There are small other problems as well.

I gave up posting from my phone which has reduced my number of posts since I only have laptop access once or twice per day.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S22.  Maybe others are having the same issues?

Other than that the new format is workable for me.

What I do on this (and the Dan Wesson Forum, using the same web design software) is: select the new posts radio button (1), then scroll down to the topic I want to read and select the new radio button (2) (right clicking allows you to open in a new tab), when I’m done and there are still unread posts that I’m not interested in, I select the mark all as read radio button (3).

I never receive any e-mail notifications of post I’ve contributed to or am watching and subscribed to – like I always used to get.  I went into my account settings and from what I can tell, I am set up for this to happen.  But it doesn’t.  Suggestions?
