Would anyone have a quick reference chart or memo showing sling width for each model. I’ve tried searching the forum and internet relating to original sling width for different models but no luck. I think the model 1894 was 1” and others like model 71 were 1-1/4” but, there’s also 1-1/8”.

M 71 took a 1″, like M 64, 52 Sporting, standard M 70, most others equipped with factory swivels. Only models intended for 1-1/4″ were standard 52s & 75s, & target-grade 70s like NM model.
Thanks Clarence. Was looking at sling hooks on EBay and others who seem to adopt whatever size they’re selling fits all.

It would have simplified the factory’s parts inventory to use the 1-1/4″ size on all swivel-equipped models, but no, the owner of a standard 54 or 70 who preferred the regulation US Army sling (after WWI, surplus slings were practically being given away) had to replace his swivels to use that sling. I have a standard 52 that originally had the 1″ size on the buttstock & 1-1/4″ on the brl band, which proves stocking two sizes led to mistakes. The old fishhook style was 1-1/4″, or at least that’s the width of the only pair I now have.
