Hello all, I am new to this forum. I recently received a model 1894 rifle that has been past down through my family, this rifle was originally purchased by my great grandfather in the early 1900’s “so I have been told”.
I am trying to find a period correct Lyman/Marbles tang sight. But have found that they made many different versions of these sights through the years. It looks to have had one mounted on it in the past as you can see the wear marks from where it had been mounted.
The rifle has an octagon barrel “Nickel Steel” 32 W.S., also has a long magazine tube.
Serial # 126135
I will try to add some pictures
Any information on this would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks in advance!

Hello Joe,
The serial number tells us that your Model 1894 Sporting Rifle was manufactured in the latter part of the year 1901. If you are interested, the Cody Firearms Museum records office can provide a factory letter with all of the “as built” details originally recorded in the factory ledger books about your rifle, including which type of tang sight it might have had.
