Hey Guys,

So this came fell into my lap the other day.  A friend wanted me to check it out for him……might even be able to purchase it.  But anyways, it doesn’t have much condition but what is interesting is the the butt stock is a carbine butt stock and what appears to be an “lightweight octagon barrel”.  The taper seems more drastic than a regular barrel and the muzzle end measures just under 5/8″.  Here are a few pictures.   94CarbineButtStock.jpgImage Enlarger94RifleMuzzle.jpgImage Enlarger94CloseUp.jpgImage Enlarger

As you can see the butt stock looks like it has been married to the frame since the beginning.  I can’t remember the full serial number but it is in the 577K range.  i’ll update the serial number when i get home from work.

Can any of you 94 experts tell me if this barrel is actually a light weight barrel?

The picture you posted showing the muzzle does not make it look like an Extra Lightweight barrel.  How long is the barrel?  Which caliber is it?

It doesn’t look like a lightweight to me either. They will usually be slightly smaller than the mag tube at the muzzle and approx. 9/16″

Bert,

Standard 26″ 30 WCF Nickel steel barrel.

So, sounds like it’s not a lightweight….guess that is what happens when you stare at 73s most of the time.Cool

Based on the pictures you posted, it is a standard sized barrel.  The only oddity is the Carbine butt stock (if it is factory original).
