Hi Rick; You’ve got to keep in mind that there were several factory made up guns using 1894, mod. 55 and mod. 64 components. I don’t know if this is one of them though.

Yes that’s true Henry. I guess at first glance, I would agree with Bert the odds are very high that it’s a “made up” gun. For me if I’m shelling out that kind of dough for a model 64, I want it to be 100% factory correct or some form of expert opinion & documentation or provenance stating same. Personally for me, it defeats the purpose of the model 64 configuration without the 2/3 length magazine tube, balance, and looks but, each to their own I guess.

Rick-
I’d like to add a 64 someday but this one would not be it. The 2/3 magazine is one feature that makes this model special and a full-length magazine would always be noticed by a knowledgeable collector. I’m afraid it would be an “excuse gun” someday and we’ve discussed that issue several times. I like unusual or different guns as you do and a factory FL mag may make it more valuable to some collectors.

Mike,
I totally agree with you. If it is indeed 100% factory, I guess the buyer got a rare and unique model 64 carbine but, just not my cup of tea either!
