For one copper can make assembling the gun a bit harder if there is a tight fit like the lower tang into the receiver and if you ever have a issue with the silver plating  peeling you are now seeing a nice copper color. My brother took a Colt 1911 to a local factory that did nickel plating and thats what they did to his gun. It looked fine until the nickel peeled by the ejection port. All Winchesters were plated over bare steel.

I don’t think I’d like that.  Especially the tight fit part.  I was already concerned about the bbl-to-receiver threading but figured the gun smith would make it work.  But that is out of view.  Don’t want chipping or whatnot where all the visible parts go back together.  I have not looked for a plater yet.

For those of you that like knifes and engraving you should go to the custom knife show being held at the Hyatt Plaza in Fort Worth.  March 29-30.
