I was looking at the Cody Firearms Museum and it takes me to Buffalo Bill Center of the West – I am going to guess they are both one in the same with the museum being a part of the Center. That is my takeaway. When I look at memberships, it says to call for Donations and memberships – I guess I cannot just do it online through the website? Maybe I am in the wrong place???

Select Firearms then for starters select Wild West Circle.

Worth every penny, IMHO. Thanks for supporting the folks who support our affliction!

If you visit the museum, be prepared to set aside at least 2 full days if you want to see everything. First time I went, I spent a whole day just in the firearms wing. Had to plan a second trip the next summer to see the rest. By far the best and largest museum I had ever been to.

Thanks for the advice. I hope there is a bunch of thrift and antique stores around for the wife.
If she likes antiques and such, I guarantee she’ll love the museum as well. There’s soooo much more than just firearms. There’s the native American wing, famous art wing, the Buffalo Bill Wild West Show wing, and much more. Save a day for the Old Trail Town and lunch at the Irma Hotel as well.

There are a couple of bookstores I like on Sheridan (main drag) and a few excellent little art galleries that would certainly interest anyone so inclined. A trip to Cody is not complete without a meal at the Irma. The prime rib buffet (weekends only, last I heard) is legendary, save room for the bread pudding w/ rum sauce! It may not be the best restaurant in town but it’s my favorite. If you want to feel like you’re waking up in a movie set (without the cameras!) book a room in Irma’s historic wing.
But yes, anything less than a full day at CFM and you’ll be planning a return trip before you leave the parking lot. Some exhibits at the Whitney Museum vary, many spectacular items travel among member museums and timing is everything. Old Trail Town is indeed worth a visit if they are open and weather is pleasant. Dug Up Gun Museum is down a side street near the Irma. Cool place.
A word of warning; BBHC is open year-round but some businesses are only open during the peak tourist season. My favorite motel is closed all winter, as are many attractions.
