OfflineI know it’s not a Winchester… but Winchester people know good stock repair options. My friend had his Remington 40XB rifle knocked of the table at the gunshow this past weekend… the result was tragic. Anyway, he didn’t want to try to have it repaired and sold it to me… thought I’d ask here to see if there was a wood-wizard that was taking new patients?

OfflineBen-
Certainly looks repairable but I think your quest for a wood-wizard is justified. Good looking rifle.

Maybe so, but I coveted one of those 40X in 22LR for many years as I was accumulating various versions of Win M52’s

I understand that. And who am I to say anything as I’m not exactly 100% loyal to Winchester collecting. In the spirit of full disclosure, I have some Remington here

OfflineSo, who is responsible when a gun falls off a table at a gun show? I was looking at a rifle one on a table on which a vendor had too many rifles piled in it and, you guessed it, one modern rifle clattered to the floor. Somehow, no damage, but I wasn’t exactly going to reimburse him if their was as his table was not neatly organized. Even if it was, I think that’s a risk you, as a vendor, takes.

I’m thinking there’s a really good chance the vendor wouldn’t see it that way.
I know I would feel terrible if I was involved with a rifle falling to the floor, even if the vendor had cluttered his table up.
…. I suppose it would be a way to get the price down.
Sorry – poor taste joke.

I suppose that’s why I carry insurance that covers my guns even away from home. Not sure it would cover this exact situation but it helps me feel better.
