I too have a branded carbine. # 184737 PR date, 6-19-1903. I am currently awaiting a letter. The original owner branded the stock and put his initials into it as well. He later gave it to his Son, who carved his initials into the stock. Really cool thing is, I have the scabbard they kept it in, and it too is branded. They had a sheep ranch in central Montana. His Son had a Son and was given the carbine when he returned from WW2. He, in turn gave the carbine to a friend just before he died. I got this info from a 92 year old woman, the Mother of one of these folks. She sold the carbine to my buddy in Yakima, WA. and I bought it from him. I doubt the letter will mention any of this, but I am hoping. BTW, the carbine is still in great condition with a perfect bore. Too early to have proofs and that is mainly why I bought it. Big Larry
Yep. If only they could talk. At first I was a bit apprehensive about buying this carbine, sight unseen, but my buddy assured me it was pretty nice. It actually turned out better than his description. Standard all the way except for the 3 leaf Express sight with the platinum line and a home made front sight. Big Larry
