Picked up a Winchester signal cannon yesterday. It’s the polished brass version from 1976. It even came with 3 boxes of blanks! 😁. It has the mahogany display tray but unfortunately the original box and Firestone rubber tires are missing… I’ve started searching eBay for the tires…

I dont know if you remember it or even saw it but i picked one up at Cody a couple years ago that was about 80%.
Defiantly had been used. It now hangs out in my garage and comes out to play regularly.
I do it just enough to keep the neighbors on edge but not predictably 
Super fun to shoot, long string allows the grandson to play also.

I’m still kicking myself for not buying the first one I saw over 40 years ago at a Market Hall gun show in Dallas. This was before beef jerky and blow guns took over…but the blow guns were fun. I didn’t realize I was a Winchester collector back then and hadn’t learned to avail myself to treasures such as this.

If I dropped hammer on a ten gauge blank in my peaceful neighborhood, it would have to be as a derisive signal we were GONE, no more than five seconds before the long haul moving van pulled away from the curb. There would be a collective soiling of underwear, shortly followed by a tied up switchboard at our local cop shop.
I would love to have one of those signal cannons, preferably a brass one.
I do have a question. If Ben’s signal cannon, made under license granted by Olin Corporation, is a “real” Winchester, how come my Winchester Model 1873 .44 WCF Deluxe Sporting Rifle made under license granted by Olin Corporation…….isn’t?
Anyway, there was a kid in my old high school who got famous by dropping lit Cherry Bombs down the school toilets. I suspect he and Ben share traces of DNA.

Boy did you jog my mind…. Cherry bombs, silver salutes, quarter sticks… all fond memories of my youth! I’m too show to light a fuse & run away or toss (my arm is shot) and I don’t trust my scooter to get away in time either. Ah… the wonder years! It’s a wonder I didn’t blow my hand off. 🙂 See you in October!

Quarter sticks? I think some folks around here called them M-80’s but I don’t know much about such things. Remember bottle rockets? I’ll neither confirm nor deny my role in an epic bottle rocket battle on the Brazos River near Palo Pinto, TX 50 years and a few months ago. There may have even been a naval contingent since someone had a key to the canoes. Could be why I wasn’t invited back for a second year of camp staff.
