It’s my pleasure to announce that the new WACA website will be live the first of next week.

While the WACA Forum remains the same for now, the rest of the site is totally new and improved. And there are more positive changes to come in the next couple months….so be on the lookout!

We’d love hearing your feedback on the new site, as well as any programming bugs you may find so we can fix them as soon as possible. Hopefully there won’t be any, but after all, it is a computer!

BTW, be sure to check-out the Spring Collector featuring an intro to our new site:

I am excited to see the changes. Did I hear that we will be able to access an archive of all the old "Collector" issues and read old articles? If so, will this only be for WACA members, or anyone that visits the site?

Gary:

Yep……….. The new site will provide brief "teasers" on the articles but only members in good standing will be able to download the scanned article in total.

I forgot to mention that the article look-up feature will be forthcoming in phase two. We have the "Collector" index with articles in table format back to 1990 but I have to complete indexing the other older articles and then get all of the magazines scanned so it will be awhile before this feature goes on-line.

To whom it may concern,

I don’t know what was going on, but earlier today I could not log into the forum. As soon as I clicked to log In, a page loaded that looks like the new website and simply said "Forum" and that was all. I tried using both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer to look at the forum with no result.

I guess someone finally fixed whatever the problem was. As I obviously can see the forum now. Was wondering if I was the only person with this problem or if someone else also had it?

Sincerely,
Maverick

P.S. The new website looks great!

We had to slightly reroute the forum and at first, something was broken, but it’s now fixed; however, if you have any bookmarks or favorites saved in your web browser, you may need to delete them and then save a new path. Go to WinchesterCollector.org (you’ll see the new site), and click on Forum. Then save your bookmark from there. If it’s still an issue, please let me know and we’ll get it fixed asap. Computers, computers! 🙂

Glad you like it. A lot of work plus club treasure went into it. More to come with Phase 2, including a new and improved (and faster) forum.

The new website is very nice looking so far, and I think it will be inviting to new members. If I was not a member and stumbled onto this site, I would be inclined to join.

While viewing the forum and clicking on various topics I have been getting this ERROR message lately.

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Lost connection to MySQL server at ‘reading authorization packet’ WHERE post_id = system error: 0 in /home/01/80/3018001/web/forum/db/mysql4.php on line 48

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Sometimes I can refresh the page and it will go away. Other times it won’t and I have to go back to a previous page and click the link again.

Was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem?

Sincerely,
Maverick
