I just bought a Lyman tang sight stamped "WA". It shows to fit a 63 however if it does you’d have to screw to the rear position into the wood/ stock. Is that how these work?

What book? Looking in both The Sight Book (Madis) p 153 and Old Gunsights and Rifle Scopes (Stroebel) p. 26 list only the 1903.

I’m sorry its not a book that I have it’s a sight application chart. What number does stroebel show for 63?

Aren’t the tangs the same?

"All calibers" ❓

I think Stroebel was a bit confused.

Gene,

In the Lyman chapter, Stroebel omitted the Model 63. If you look in the Marbles chapter, he correctly listed the W8 sight for both the Model 1903 and 63.

Maybe there’s an early and late version? The screws I gift with the sight included one that was a wood screw

Stroebel lists the No. 45 receiver sight for both on page 30. I have a 03 but not a 63 so I am unable to compare the two tangs. As Bert points out there is some confusion. 😕
