Ebay has gotten crazy with these prices. I miss the days of starting a auction for $1.00 and watching it climb. Its all gone to “Buy It Now”.
I’m beginning to sound like my father! I remember when a $1 would actually buy you something.

I’ve said it before. eBay now sucks, it used to actually be an auction site with dollar opening bids and no reserve. Plus you used to be able to purchase guns. Let the highest bidder determine the value. Now it’s just an overpriced marketplace, like everything else, items perpetually relisted until a desperate enough sucker comes along.
Si, how does one create an actual auction website, dollar start, no reserve (most of the time)?
A major benefit of eBay, as far a I am concerned, is the very wide-ranging audience who see your post. From what I can see doing a llittle research, sellers don’t talk about getting a LOT of viewers, but they get viewers from all over. If you post something for sale on a specialty site like this forum, you’ll attract people who are looking specifically for what you’re selling, true, but it’s not a huge number of viewers and they are not as geographically diverse. Ebay, OTOH, potentially reaches millions of viewers. Whether they are looking for what you are selling or not is another issue, but at least the possibility is there.

When you talk about rare gun parts, Ebay is the place to go. If looking for a rare idem you have to search a couple times a day if it’s buy it now or it will be gone and you never knew it was listed. When I say rare I’m not talking about 40-82 loading tools, I mean original antique parts. Fixing an old gun with an original matching condition gun part is far better then leaving it broke or using after market parts. T/R
