I have a 94 in 25-35 that has a stamp on the stock. I am trying to figure it out. It is 28
CP
It is in 25-35 with a Lyman # 21 sight. My only guess is that it was a rifle belonging to the Canadian Pacific but my guess could be influenced by the fact that I dealt with the Canadian Pacific as a Rail Road Supervisor. Any other ideas?

Should have mentioned it was made in 1904.
What is the serial number on the gun? If it actually is a 1904 production gun, it is a Model 1894 versus “94”.
Is it a “Rifle” or a “Carbine”? Do you have pictures of the gun that you can share with us?

1894 rifle 254XXX. I would add a photo if I could figure out how to.
Nick,
First, there is absolutely no valid reason to use “XXX” in a Winchester serial number.
Winchester Model 1894 s/n 254000 was manufactured in January 1905. The last serial number in the year 1904 was 249782.
