Cody will not be able to help more than you can find yourself. All they would have is already available online through the McCracken Research Library. I’ve been looking through the site which can be overwhelming.

Did you try both numbers from the GI ad?

1873man yes tried a few times i read all information in the Winchester books how do you verify genuine factory converted rifles in the pictures of the bolts        it shows three ways to modify them welding a center piece slotting the face and lastly a threaded bushing which i believe is the factory method i imagine if      the serial number can be traced this would identify positively the conversion i wonder if anyone has tried to have the converted bolt checked by a computer    scan program to get the true measurements if the bolt is not badly pitted from black powder residue  again i am very grateful for all of your help will continue   to search for answers respectfully gene66.
