Hello to all….I’m searching for a complete three die set of reloading dies in 40-70 Sharps Straight for seating a .403″ bullet. All I can find is the set for a .408″ bullet. Hopefully, someone has an extra set or no longer needs theirs and is willing to sell. Thank you, Pete.

Buy the die set and then get an expander for the .403″ bullet.  You want one at least .400″ or a bit smaller.

Chuck, Thank you. I’m waiting to hear back from a die company. They made only a few and there may not be any left. I should know by tomorrow.

Hopefully the standard sizing die will squeeze the neck enough to use the smaller expander.   It all depends on the thickness of the neck material and the final ID of the neck.  If not, you can make your own bushing to squeeze the neck.

I know Buffalo Arms makes expanders in almost every diameter, some of the .40’s are popular with BPCR shooters. Lyman also makes expanders and the die to hold it works for the BACO expanders. Lyman may have a neck sizer if the sizer in the set doesn’t work. If you’re loading for a Single Shot the neck sizer and expander may be all you need.

MidwayUSA has the Lyman case mouth expanding die but I don’t believe they have the neck sizer.
