As the title says, I’m looking for the die portion only for a Winchester Model 1894 loading tool. I’d prefer 32-40 or 25-35 but would consider others depending on caliber, condition and price. My email is: [email protected]
Thanks

Most people don’t know this (or think about it) but if your trying to match up a die with the top portion of the 1894 Tool you need to remember that the top portion was milled for what caliber belonged to it. The very top portion of the tool where the cartridge is placed to be primed is the portion that is milled per corresponding caliber.
For example if the top is milled for 25-35 you can’t put a 32-40 cartridge in the fork to be primed the 32-40 cartridge is way to big and won’t fit. Also for example if the top portion was milled for 50-95 Express a 32-40 cartridge would be very loose when placed in the fork to be primed.
Take a caliper and measure between the two forks and this will give you a close approximate size of the diameter base of the cartridge case intended for the (original) caliber that the tool was made for.
Sincerely,
Maverick

I thank you, Maverick. You’re right. I didn’t know/think about that but it sure makes sense. I’d better hold off on doing anything until the "upper" that I bought arrives. The seller didn’t know anything about it either and thought, like I did, that the dies were interchangeable. Here it is, only 9:30am and I’ve already learned something. It’s gonna be a good day!
