I have to admit this rear sight 22 series with all the variations on which gun / depending on the mfg year and options really has me baffled. This sight was sold as a 22 H, but it doesn’t match the other 22H I have there’s no front adjusting plate or screw hole for that matter.

Can somebody ID this site for me I believe the elevator is a 3C.

THX

That was a early sporting rear is what they were called in the catalogs that had the notch filed down. The later version of it would have the screw and slider to do fine adjustment.

I am not a centerfire sight expert but according to the factory drawing, the 22H was not even established until 10/27/31, per change of manufacturing notice 13078 so I would assume that any 22 sights prior to that date were not technically a “22H”.  The 22H drawing shows the screw and does not show any changes to the sight (at least up to 1935) which is the last time the sight drawings were updated in the Winchester Sight Book.  I agree with Bob that is not a “22H” sight.

Ah, ok THX. That’s the other problem. These sights are manipulated so much, I never know what I’m looking at. I put a 22H on my 1907 WSL, because that’s what the Strobel book had listed. IDK, I give up!
