I recently picked up a 1957 Model 88 in .308 and I’m looking forward to giving it some good use. It came with a weaver scope mount but I’d like to remove that (already ordered filler screws) and maybe put a peep sight on it.
It has the correct Lyman 16A rear and Winchester 103C front sights.
According to Stroebel’s Old Gunsights book, appropriate peep sights would be: Lyman 57W88 or Redfield 70WW or 80WW.
I found this “Redfield WW” marked peep on eBay but it doesn’t look like a 70 or 80 but is marked “WW” so it should fit a Model 88 or 100 (I think) but Stoebel doesn’t show anything that I can see looks quite like it. The seller doesn’t list a proper model number for the sight.
Also, there are a couple of Williams FP88-100 sights around. Does anyone have an opinion on the Williams FP for a Model 88?
Thanks,
Steve
