Just picked up an 1886, made in 1898, and chambered in 45-90

Wondering if anyone could give me some info on the sights. Are they period correct? Could they have been installed by Winchester.

Any general info would be appreciated. Thanks.IMG_2435.jpgIMG_2436.jpgIMG_2437.jpgIMG_2439.jpg

The front sight is someone’s handiwork after the fact.  As for the rear sight, if Winchester installed it per a customer’s special request, it should be noted as such in the ledger records (and on a factory letter).  If the ledger record makes no mention of it, the assumption will be that it was installed after the fact.  The good news, is the fact that it is a period installed sight and it is unique.
