Hi all, I have recently been passed down a model 1912 winchester from my dad, that he used when he was a kid. It’s a 16 ga with 2-9/16″ chamber, with serial in the 44xx range. According to all my findings, they never made a 16 ga the first year, but that seems to be the serial number range. Anyone else ever see this? Thanks

Actually, Winchester did make a few16-ga and 12-ga guns very early on (late 1912). They did not add them to the catalog until 1913. Over the past many years, I have seen several of both gauges in the early 4-digit serial number range.
