Winchester made about 8000 Model 1400 LH in six models, and whilst they made a Trap and a Skeet gun, the market was not large. Since 2009 I have only seen one Trap and one Skeet come on the Gunbroker market. As a hunter and clay shooter since I was a boy, I became partially blind in the right eye four years ago, and switched to Left hand shooting with my Model 1400 Mk II VR Field gun and since then am back to about the same proficiency. It is slower to reload in the left hand position for a right hander when compared with SxS or U/O guns but that is not usually a probblem except with 5 stand setups. My suggestion is get your wife an old Model 1400 (pre 1976) with the metal Carriage Release. My Model 140 has a plastic release and having worn off the tip, I now close the gun as if it is a Model 1400 Mk I. Pleastic Carriage Releases require a gunsmith to replace unlike the Metal Releases.
